Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: se Wind Stength: 10/12 Surf / Sea State: slight Air Temperature: 16 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 17 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 21 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
With only three children to look after this afternoon I was clear to have
an early afternoon session with a good breeze forecast!! On reaching The
Dip at 1 o clock my meter was reading 12/14 so things were looking good.I
rigged the 8.5 on the carve but by the time I got on the water the wind had
dropped !!! So I returned to the beach and rigged the 9.4 and went out on
my raceboard.By now the wind had dropped light and it was slow going even
with the centreboard down !!! With the wind onshore I headed for the
R.Orwell where the breeze increased a little so I carried on over the
shipping lane and ended up on the beach with the sunken barges at Horsey
Island way past Dovercourt. This is a mega place to sail and would be great
on a slalom board at low water where you could get some good speeds, the
only problem is getting there as a boat is the best bet as you have to sail
over the shipping channel !!! So a nice 2hrs 40 mins out - 5 stars for
weather and only 1 star for wind !!!
ps.I saw 3 seals !!!!
